It happened with a slip.
Koyomi Araragi thought he was done with the supernatural after his recent brush with vampires but that belief is short lived when Senjyogahara, the aloof girl in school, is as light as a feather. The cause? A crab God with a penchant for the vulnerable. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg as she’s not the only individual suffering from the effects with their brush with the paranormal.
A lost snail who can’t find their way home no matter how hard they try, and a mysterious deadly arm that can only bring misery despite how hard one wishes. The forever ‘Mr. Nice Guy’ Koyomi, can’t help but embroil himself into their lives to fix their problems with the aid of Meme Oshino, an expert on these matters.
Koyomi Araragi is not your average third year high school student. An ex-vampire after an incident during Spring Break Koyomi is essentially human but with slight differences such as his quick healing abilities for example. An all round nice guy, he is naturally drawn to always offer a hand to someone in trouble.
Hitagi Senjyogahara is a classmate of Koyomi's. She is a model student who just happens to carry around her weight of stationary on her person. Confident, sharp tongued and unabashed to speak her mind Senjyogahara is a force to be reckoned with and may or may not be slightly touchy in regards to her weight.
Mayoi Hachikuji is a fifth grade elementary student who is lost trying to get to her mother's home. Be careful of what she says as she hides her biting barbs in her sweet demeanor and has a problem in pronouncing Koyomi's last name.
Suruga Kanbaru is the underclassmen of Koyomi and Hitagi's. She used to be close to Senjyogahara in middle school and were known as the 'Valhalla Combo' before they became estranged when Hitagi moved to high school.
Mysterious and eccentric, Meme Oshino is well versed in the world of the supernatural. He is the one that Koyomi had turned to, to solve his vampire issue and is also the one to help solve the many other brushes with the paranormal that the other characters have encountered.
Tsubasa Hanekawa is the class representative of Koyomi's class, who he describes her as "the class representative of all class representatives". She is smart and kind and Koyomi is forever in debted to her after the role she played in the incident during Spring Break.
Dressed in a black suit, Deishu is a con artist and has no scruples in his hunt for money. With a special interest in Kanbaru, this con artist is nose deep in many people’s business.
One of Koyomi Araragi’s sisters, Karen is a hot-heading and energetic girl – one half of the ‘Fire Sisters’ duo, along with Tsukihi – who enjoys outdoor activities and often acts before thinking things through. It’s not hard being a little girl in a big girl’s world! Having to suck Koyomi’s blood on a regular basis to survive, her relationship with the boy is special and will become more so.
The youngest of Koyomi Araragi’s sisters, fiery homegirl Tsukihi is in fact a reincarnated phoenix! Tetchy to the point of hysteria, Tsukihi will be immortal till the day she dies of old age. She likes being indoors and forms the second half of the ‘Fire Sisters’ duo, the other sister being Karen. Also like Karen, she holds a particularly strong affection for her brother Koyomi.
Onmyōji university student and specialist in the immortal Oddities, Yozuru doesn’t allow herself to step on the ground. One of Meme’s clubmates at university, she lets her fists do the talking when she fights and can smash her way through buildings. Her interest in immortal Oddities leads her path across that of phoenix-reincarnate Tsukihi Araragi…
The shikigami – companion ghost – of Yozuru Kagenui, Yotsugi thinks of her master as if she were her sister. Referring to herself by the first-person pronoun ‘Boko’, she is able to use the ‘unlimited rulebook’ ability to shape-shift her finger. Her fealty to Yozuru will bring her into the path of the Araragi family, with climactic results…
